PCDJ Dex is a full-featured professional software audio mixer. With this attractive and comprehensive application, you will have a full mixing desk on your monitor, but with many more functions and possibilities than those you could dream of in the “analog age”. It comes complete with two turntables, jog wheels, and a plethora of mixing controls, audio effects, automatic mixing options, equalizers, etc., and most of them are just one click away.
Dex can mix almost any song from your hard drives, including WAV, Ogg, MP3, and FLAC tracks, as well as selected tracks from your audio CDs. To make things even easier, you can also use your favorite existing playlists (M3U is fully supported). Tracks can be tagged, colored, and classified, to help you make the right choice as easily as possible. When playing, each track is represented using a colored wave-form, allowing you to mix both visual and auditive information to make the most accurate choice.
The program allows you to find the right balance between its automated controls and your own creativity as a DJ. It is able to detect the BPM (beats per minute) of any track, thus identifying its tempo, which will help you decide when and where to mix the two songs. The program can also do that automatically, if you wish – in fact, you can just select as many tracks as needed and let Dex do the mixing for you. With its countless features and sound effects, your creativity will know no limits. Loops, speed-up, slow-down, echoes, flanger, gapper, you name it – together with its 3-band equalizer, you can make the same track sound as something different each time.
You can either use your system soundcard or attach various external controls and professional audio equipment to make the most of your mixing software. Dex is compatible with various Hercules, EKS, Behringer, Vestax, Denon, Stanton, and (of course) PCDJ consoles, perfectly mapping their controls with those in your Dex.
Of course, anything you mix and play in your PCDJ Dex can be recorded in any of the main formats supported (WAV, Ogg, MP3, and FLAC), so that you can impress everyone with your ultimate mix. If you happen to have Winamp’s Shoutcast plug-in installed in your computer, you can also broadcast your mixes directly from Dex, in just a few clicks. |
